Who ever thought you could earn from gamifying movement – be it daily walks to school or a long weekend run?
When we heard the premise for Genopets, we knew we just had to bring this to our student communities. That’s why we purchased custom-branded Genopets Habitats to allow thousands of AcadArena students to move-to earn.
Genopets is a play-to-earn game on the Solana chain that combines the concept of movement-based games like Pokemon Go, the mechanics of raising a personal digital pet like Tamagotchi, and the crypto-based economics of Axie Infinity.
Every player mints their own generative Genopet NFT when they start, growing it through real-world activity, customization and PVE and PVP mini-games that will be added over time. The game is free-to-play for anyone to get started, but earning will require having a Habitat either provided by a guild or purchased by the players themselves.
The game is launching this March, but our good friends at the development team have hooked us up with thirdy (30) slots for the private beta!
We’ll be distributing the majority of slots to the general community via giveaway, as well as a small amount across core contributors and student leaders via seeding. Below is the breakdown:
We envision Genopets being a core piece of the AcadArena student-gamer experience – especially when in-person classes become a thing once again. Being able to earn and have fun while engaging in an active lifestyle is exciting, and we look forward to seeing how the game evolves.
Want to learn more about the game? We’ll be hosting an AMA alongside the developers on the AcadArena Lounge Discord server on Friday, January 14 at 11:00 PM Philippine time. Ten of the beta slots will be given away then, so we hope to see you there!

Genopets is but the first of many web3 games we’ll be getting into to help students explore and earn from the metaverse. If you’ve got any questions, suggestions or ideas, feel free to reach out to me at justin@acadarena.com
As always, stay safe and keep playing!
